Noragami Chapter 44 Summary

Hi there, long time no see, everyone! Thank you so much for all the support! *bows* Partial scanlations will be out later or tomorrow, so for now you’ll have to make do with this summary. =)

By the way, please take note that I am not in any way fluent in Japanese so this may contain a LOT of mistranslations. So after reading this, make sure to read noragamis’ and summerhalcyondays’ summaries!

Only 75% to 85% of this is correct, so if you’re okay with that, then… Without further ado, here we go!

Color page: Just like gods, can humans be saved?

Back from where we left on Chapter 43, Hiyori asked Tsuyu about the “Gods’ greatest secret”. She knows that the older woman from before (Kiyoko-san //omg Haikyuu? *shot*) is Mayu’s daughter, so why didn’t they tell her about it? Upon hearing that, Tsuyu said, “For shinkis to have no memories of the time when they’re still alive, isn’t that a good thing?” She even added that both Tenjin and Yato know about the thing with Mayu…

*insert flashback here with both Yato and Tenjin*

Tsuyu: That’s right, even at that time, with Yukine-kun…

Hiyori: So the gods know about their shinkis’ past, don’t they?

Box: That is.. a god’s greatest secret.

So afterwards, Yukine went back to his human form, and with that, their ayakashi-hunting has ended. While Yato was saying that he’ll be taking the bath first, Yukine gives him a cheeky comment, and they argue again.. (Kofuku-san’s not an ATM you know! LMAO YUKINE)

So they’re walking home and Yukine’s still complaining to Yato.

Yato (thoughts): Even though Yukine’s still a kid.. perhaps, if he’s still living, his shadow would be much longer.. No wait, if Yukine became taller than me then I’ll lose my dignity as his master! (lol Yato you naive boy)

“Yaaaboku.”

All of a sudden, Fujisaki is there! Yato is too shocked for words that he just stopped there while Yukine walked on after muttering a, “W-What?”

“Won’t you accompany me for a while?”

Yukine: –and so, do you understand that, Yato!!
Yato: Hm?
Yukine: Yato… your face looks so pale you know?

So Yato brushed it off, saying that his stomach hurts so Yukine should go home without him. When Yukine asked why, Yato just shouted, “Don’t mind about that, just go home without me!” *kinda rephrased it here*

*In Fujisaki’s apartment*

Fujisaki: I’m home~
Come on in, Dad isn’t back yet anyway..
Ah, when I say “Dad”, I’m referring to Fujisaki Kouto’s parent, okay?
I’m living here with my dad right now.
Because Mizuchi told me that there’s two children that you’re getting along with so well right now, I want to meet them so..
I asked my dad to transfer me to this school.

Fujisaki: So, how is it? Your new papa?
I kinda like this one, you see.
Yato: How should I know? When you’ve changed so much..

Despite the awkwardness, Yato and Fujisaki played some video games.. but Yato noticed the “Mandate of Hell” (Norawgami’s translation of koto no ha) on Fujisaki’s things.

“That’s… Ebisu’s Mandate of Hell..!?”

Fujisaki: Yaboku, concentrate on this, okay? Overthinking things won’t do you any good.
You were always smiling when you were younger.
That instinct that you have now, the one that I’ve given you.. Your appearance when you took away people’s lives… I loved watching that.
Yaboku.. you’re truly evil, don’t you know?
Nah, such a presentation isn’t suitable for this.. (aaaah why are you talking like this, Fujisaki? I can’t translate this that well! ;_;)
A phenomenon that is essential to the ecosystem..

These mushroom pests… to get in my way just like that..! (He was talking about the game.. a Capyper game with mushrooms.. or something.)

Yato: And so?
Fujisaki: Since it’s my business as your father after all, are you doing well on your new job as a God of Fortune?
Yato: I’m doing well with it.
Fujisaki: Oh… isn’t Yukine-kun amazing?

Haha, as expected of a blessed shinki!
Don’t make that kind of face!
I swear, I won’t do anything to Yukine!
Yato: Eh?
Fujisaki: It’s summer vacation so we haven’t seen each other that much but..
Hiyori-chan’s been calling me “Fujisaki-senpai” (heart) you know?

Yato: Don’t you dare spout out lies…
Fujisaki: Sorry, the (heart) part was a lie.
And besides, you’re only causing her a lot of trouble anyway..
Yaboku, you’re a God of Depravity. That’s how I’ve made you, so don’t do such unnecessary things anymore.
Yato: Y-You didn’t do anything to Hiyori, did you!?

Fujisaki: Aaaaah..
But your daddy doesn’t have such an intention, you know..?

And so Fujisaki took out his phone and presented a picture of him and Hiyori in Capyperland.

“I kissed Hiyori-chan!”

“Ahaha, I’ve been waiting for that reaction of yours!”

Yato: That’s a lie.
Fujisaki: No, it’s the truth.

So in the Iki household, Hiyori just came out from the bath and she’s still thinking about what Tsuyu had said to her, about the “gods’ greatest secret.” She understood that the secret is something that gods should must keep no matter what, and even though she’s tempted to ask Yato about Yukine’s cause of death, she –

..And then Yato enters the scene. Hiyori screams, which took the attention of her mother, and Hiyori explains that it’s just because of a bug that came flying to her window. When her mother told her to kill it, she said she didn’t want to, since she absolutely did not want to touch it.

Yato: Hiyori! Answer me honestly!!
Did you.. at Capyperland.. with Fujisaki…
Hiyori: W-W-WHY DO YOU KNOW SUCH A THING!?
Yato: That guy!! He did this to my innocent and pure Hiyori…!! (He actually said “pure white”, I’ve misread that so thanks for correcting me, you know who you are! *glomps*)

Hiyori: When you put it that way…
Yato, towards Bishamon-san..
Didn’t you kiss her as well?!
Yato: HUH?!
Who the hell would do that kind of thing towards that pervy woman?!
Please don’t make such a sinful lie by making up stories of me kissing that woman!

And so Hiyori presented a picture of Yato and Bishamon’s kiss on Chapter 24, which she got from Kofuku.

And so they argued.

..This isn’t that important anyway, so I won’t translate this XD

So Yato apologized to Hiyori and blamed himself for causing her so much trouble. Shocked by his sudden change, she told him to stop acting like everything is his fault since it doesn’t suit him.

Hiyori: Sure, you’ve caused me a lot of trouble, you’re annoying, and even though sometimes your antics even backfire but..
You do that because you worry about me, don’t you?
I understand that well.
Please have more confidence in yourself.
Yato: I-I understand..
Hiyori: That’s good.
Yato: Well then, I’ve got a favor to ask of you too.. Be cautious of Fujisaki, and don’t you dare get close to him!
Hiyori: Okay, I get it! *annoyed*
Yato: And one more thing..
Your crisis management is too lax. (???? I guess he’s talking about her lack of clothes or something as well.. but meh.. I’ll confirm that once official translations are out.)
Wait, wait a second, Hiyori!!
SEKKI!!! SEKKI!!

And Yato disappears to oblivion.

Meanwhile, Yukine’s alone and complains about Yato being late. The fact that Yato even told a lie and even made him go home earlier than him makes it even more suspicious.

Then there’s a splash on the water and all of a sudden Hiiro’s there on the tree, looking at Yukine.

Hiiro: If you’re looking for Yato, he’s at our place you know?
Yukine: Nora..
You’re lying..
That guy won’t ever come back to your place!
That’s because… Yato has already released you! *bleeeeeghh*

Yukine and Hiiro had a showdown, and Hiiro sang a song that made ayakashis bite Yukine. Those ayakashi will slowly eat Yukine until he dies, and as Hiiro bid farewell unto him, Yukine negated her song’s effect by a song of his own. (Yukine has grown so strong now, hasn’t he? ;_;)

And for the first time ever (maybe?) Hiiro has felt pain and she even shed blood from his attack.

Hiiro: Even though.. you don’t know anything..
About Yato..
About your own self..
And once the “God’s Greatest Secret” is unveiled..
Even someone like you will..

Omg this is seriously Hiiro? She looks like a fish.. no, she looks like Ponyo in her fish form, you know, the one from Ghibli.. *shot*

^ I see no difference at all. *gets killed* And don’t mind the Free! reference, I never noticed it until I was editing this post anyway. XD

Hiiro, now out of her senses, attacks Yukine and the latter, out of panic, creates a boundary line in order to protect himself. But before the worst happens, Father arrives and calms Hiiro down. (We only see his hand though, but meh, we all know who he is.)

Yukine: Did she go home?
What the hell is with her!?
Feels disgusting..
A god’s… greatest secret..?

Back in Fujisaki’s apartment, Fujisaki tends to Hiiro’s wounds and told her that Yukine’s gotten a lot stronger now, she shouldn’t expect to win that easily.

Fujisaki: And besides, you shouldn’t hurt Yukine…
After all, I plan to take him all to myself.
